Sofa Situation

My parents are in search of new sofas (they desperately need to get rid of the ones they have now) and have enlisted me in finding the right ones. I'm really excited about finding them new sofas since it's been something that I have been bugging them about for awhile now.

The sofa search goes hand-in-hand with their redecorating of their family room. It has been a long time coming and the whole family is excited to redo the room where we spend the most time in together.

I should probably tell you a little bit about the progress of the room so far. It was once nacho-cheese orange. Yea, I know. I can't believe they even make nacho-cheese orange paint, right? Add in black leather couches and you've got a whole Halloween theme going. Now you see why I have been bugging them about getting rid of those black leather couches. I will admit, leather couches in the style of the ones my parents have were once quite popular. Thank goodness they no longer are and probably never will be again. And yes, the paint was another attribute of the room that I had wanted to change the minute it had been painted bright orange.

Well, as a Mother's Day gift, my brother's and I offered to repaint the room with yours truly picking out the paint color this time. I was able to pick out a lovely neutral color (Gobi Desert, Behr) and now the room looks like something out of a magazine. Okay, not really but we're getting there and the first large piece of furniture that will help with that transformation will be the new couches.

I've been meaning to go sofa shopping with my mom but between the two of us, our schedules keep clashing (she has a busier calendar than I do). So, to help with our conflicting schedules, I'll just post up some of the contenders here for everyone including my mom to see. Ahh the beauty of the Digital Age!

Shelter Island Slipcover Sofa from Bassett $1299.00.

Lounge 93" Sofa from Crate and Barrel for $1269.00.

Whitney Sofa from Ethan Allen for $1799.00

Whitaker Sofa from Ethan Allen for $2499.00

Not sure if this Chesterfield style sofa is right for my parent's family room but I sure do like it!

Engel Sofa from Havertys for $1999.00.

If you're going to do leather, then this is the way to go.

Jefferson Sofa from Bassett for $999.00.

Great sofa for the price.

Natalie Sofa from Bassett for $694.00.

A simple and classic silhouette that is always in style.

Tyler Velvet Sofa from Macy's for $699.00.

Very similar sofa to the one that is in my own family room.

Willow Sofa from Macy's.

If you couldn't already tell, I do lean more towards the low armed sofas with the deep, soft cushions.
