Where Are You Spring?

You were just here a few weeks ago, allowing us to actually wear shoes sans socks, and to go out without the need for a heavy coat. But now, you are nowhere in sight and all I can do is look at my new spring wardrobe and let out a big sigh. Yes, I was easily swayed a few months ago and purchased items that I clearly cannot wear until April or May. Happens every year.

For those of you in the same boat as me, the only thing that is keeping my Spring-deprived self going strong are the fun, colorful items I see in retail stores for the home. There's something about Spring that just makes you want to surround yourself with fresh colors. Especially after hibernating from the cold winter we've had, can you blame anyone for wanting to surround themselves in color?

My husband and I are definitely going to try to lighten up our house by switching out some of our "wintery" items with some lighter pieces for the warmer months. For example, remember those beautiful burnt orange/red velvet drapes we got back in November? Well, as gorgeous as they are, ideally we'd like to get something a little more playful for the spring & summer.

I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on what changes we make in the house. Do you guys plan on making any changes in your home for Spring?

I Want Nanette Lepore's Manhattan Home

A few weeks ago, my husband and I booked our flights to Nice, France. I know, I know! I can't believe I haven't told you all yet but yes, we were invited to go with Andrew & Trisha (brother and sister-in-law) to stay for free (yes, I said free!) at a 2br apt in Nice. I'm still in shock and don't quite believe that we're going, but I'm sure in a week or two it'll start sinking in. I'll be sure to do a post on this so I can start preparing mentally.

Because we only had travel books on Paris (still not sure when we'll go, 2012 maybe?) we went to Barnes & Noble to get some Nice travel books. While there, I secretly made a dash to the home interiors section and stumbled upon Jonathan Adler's, "Happy Chic Accessorizing". I knew I would enjoy it, but the minute I opened it to the first page I was hooked. Right there was the above image of none other than Nanette Lepore's living room.

Remember the post I did on Nanette Lepore's kid's room? And how much I loved it to the point where I wanted it as my own bedroom?? Well, now I am in love with the rest of her house. It's full of statement pieces and bold, saturated colors. It feels like a glamorous space to live, lounge, and play in. More reason to love Jonathan Adler.

Sneak Peak: My Office

Oookay, so I thought I would get back on track with writing posts after last weekend, BUT I was wrong. Way wrong. And I don't want to make any empty promises but I'm hoping the worst is over at work and that I can get back to writing to you guys a little more frequently.

Remember how I said I was picking out paint colors for my office since I wasn't happy with the current wall color? Well...I picked one out and I ended up choosing PINK! It's not a baby pink so don't worry, but it's definitely a look-at-me type of pink. And it's got the tiniest hint of raspberry with a little blueberry in it too, which gives it some depth. I tested out about 6 paint colors and immediately fell in love with "Queenly" by Sherwin Williams. It's exactly what I want and it makes me want to stay in my office. Crazy, right? But I think Pantone got it totally right when they chose a pink to be the 2011 color of the year, because it really is uplifting, motivating, and inspiring. Great for a home office in my opinion. What do you all think?

The new wall color really changes the whole vibe of the space. Creative and inspiring on the left, but not so much on the right.

I purchased these lovely note-cards from Annechovies and framed them to use as wall art instead.

Happy Friday!

Kristen Buckingham

Who's happy it's Friday?? I am, I am! I will be SO happy once this weekend is over. Crazy of me saying that I'll be happy when a weekend is over, but trust me. Tomorrow is when we launch with our updated websites (my company's, not this one) and it will be such a relief once it's over.

But onto something more pleasant, yes? Like this photo of a wonderfully creative & colorful living room. That wall of artwork is absolutely inspiring - I dig it when people use different frames for their artwork. It creates such an eclectic, gathered-over-time feel which I think is just plain cool. What do you all think?

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
