Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hello everyone! So sorry that I've been somewhat MIA recently. Cora recently got a DOC Band which helps her Torticollis (a neck muscle condition) and flat spot on her head. And of course after we got her band, she caught a cold. The poor thing has had a lot to deal with this week. Which means, so have I. I just caught up with laundry and managed to tidy up around the house (she is taking an unusually long nap right now), and thankfully I finally got a moment to sit in front of my laptop to write.

I've got many more preparations to do before Christmas because we are hosting dinner again this year (eek!) but I just wanted to wish you all a wonderful holiday season! I will be signing off until the new year so that I can spend some quality time with my family. Especially with my hubby since he finally gets a good chunk of time off (clients: keep away please!). Just some random thoughts below, but all holiday related.

The Holiday
It's tradition for me to watch this movie every year around the holidays (along with Love Actually), and this year won't be an exception just because I have an infant. Must watch this movie this weekend!

How cute are these little hats?! If I was hosting a NYE party, you bet your tush I would have these at the ready. No parties this year for us, buuuut I think I'm going to make them anyways just for our little family because they are perfectly festive.

DIY Monogrammed Gift Tags

In the past several years, I have been wanting to make DIY monogrammed gift tags, but have never gotten around to creating them. Until last night. I got my butt over to Michael's to get some good stock paper and a hole puncher (I know, I can't believe I didn't already own one) and got to work. When it was all said and done, Steve and I were able to clear off most of the huge amount of Christmas bootie that had been accumulating on our dinner table. I couldn't be happier with the results!

Now, I know what you're thinking. Isn't my to-do list long enough without adding more to it? But I'm telling ya, these DIY monogrammed gift tags will add that extra oomph that your wrapped presents need. And really, it didn't take me long at all. Trust me, time is a hot commodity around my house so you know I wouldn't spend too much time on it if I didn't think it was worth it.

Here's what I did in a nutshell. I went to Martha Stewart's website (because she is THE Domestic Goddess) and used her already created template for the ornament shape. Then I imported the template into Photoshop to add the monogram part and to change the color of the outline of the ornament. Finally, I saved it as a .pdf and printed.

This was mine in Photoshop.

VoilĂ ! All under the tree where they should be.

I realize that not everyone has Photoshop, so as an itty-bitty Christmas gift to you all, I've created new templates with color so that you can create your own monogrammed gift tags easily! Right-click on the links below to save these images to your desktop and then insert them into a Microsoft Word document. Then to add the monogram part, just add a text box on top of the ornaments and you're all set!

Holiday Wish List: Mamas & Mamas-To-Be

This post is dedicated to all of my friends who have become new moms this year. Especially to my sister-in-law, who had her baby girl, Lillian, this past Wednesday on 12/12/12!

I've come to realize in these past seven months since Cora was born that you can plan as much as you'd like for the arrival of your baby, but you really have no idea what your day-to-day life will be like when they do arrive. Questions such as "is the diaper bag really functional or is it all about form?" or "aren't there any cute nursing tops out there??" pop up but these are things that you just don't know for sure until the baby comes. Well, I have been able to answer some of these questions for myself since Cora came into our lives, and I've come up with this wish list from my personal experience. I hope that I've explained myself well, so that you understand where I'm coming from.

1. Valencia Crocheted Carryall in Sunflower: This would make a great diaper bag/purse for the warmer months, especially because it's slightly smaller than my current one. Who says you need a "diaper bag" to work as one?
2. Leather Tassel Clutch: I picked this little number up in hot pink at Gap the other day for $20! It's a great way for me to house all of my credit cards, makeup, and hair accessories and just toss it in the diaper bag. Plus, the color and size makes it easy to find in my cavernous diaper bag. They don't offer the one I picked up online, but if you check your local Gap store, I bet they still have it on sale.
3. Pom Pom Solid Scarf in Cream and Lavender: Stay warm and chic with this perfectly polished scarf.
4. & 13. Signature Screws Tortoise Bangle & Signature Studs Calf Hair Skinny Cuff: Bracelets really make me feel like my look is complete and these are my new obsession from C.Wonder.
5. The Marjories Green Onyx Studs: I have been obsessed with the color emerald for as long as I can remember and it's fitting that it's the 2013 Pantone color of the year. Plus at almost an inch long, these make a statement with any outfit even if you are just in your comfies.
6. Monogram Stroller Blanket: Keep your little one warm with this personalized blanket. Lots of colors and fonts to choose from too!
7. Bagatelle Buttondown: I love me a good horse print and with this being a buttondown, it's a no-brainer. Easy to nurse in and is right on trend.
8. Boyshirt in Neon Gingham: I have this already and want them in all of the other colors. It makes staying chic and nursing anywhere easy-peasy.
9. Lana Petite Signet Ring: I would love to have this ring with Victoria's monogram on it. And when she's old enough, I'd gift it to her.
10. & 11. Jaisalmer Headband & Beaded Bow Headband: I desperately need these types of headbands for those days I just don't want to fight with my hair and still look cute.
12. Kaleidoscope Floral Drop Earrings: For those days that you just need a little pop of color to freshen up your outfit. Plus, these aren't too long so you don't need to worry about little fingers trying to grab them.

Holiday Wish List: For Your BFF

This past weekend, I spent time with my best friends and just about had the best time ever. We celebrated a 30th birthday (yay, Linds!) and did our annual Secret Santa gift exchange, which just keeps getting better and better. Not just the gifts, but the time spent together. We all have shared in major life experiences (two babies, 3 weddings, 2 moves to different cities, and counting) and our relationship with each other just keeps growing and growing. They're not just my best friends, but my sisters who I can share my joys and sorrows with. Love you gals!

So who better to indulge with gift giving than your best friend(s), right? They love you no matter what, and are always there for you through the good and the bad. And when I mean bad, I mean through rough hangovers, ugly crying, and even bad fashion choices. But seriously, they would do anything for you so why not get them what they deserve? Go ahead and spoil them. They deserve it.

Holiday Wish List: For the Office

So why not give the gift of lavish office accessories to your loving cube mate, best friend, or significant other? A Recent Client's Design Board

A few weeks ago, a potential client reached out to me asking for help with e-decorating her living room. She had moved into her dream home in April, and with it came a gorgeous living room with beautiful molding, hardwood floors, an open floor plan, and a built-in entertainment wall. She didn't know where to start, and I was more than happy to collaborate with her to create her dream living room.

She wanted the room to have a cozy Mediterranean/Tuscan feel, but also wanted to maintain certain individual design elements, including the wall color (a light, neutral tan) and the built-in entertainment wall finish (walnut/mahogany stain). She also wanted to keep the existing sofa, loveseat, and light fixtures.

Keeping this in mind, I decided to keep a neutral palette for all of the furniture. This allowed me to add some pattern and color through the accessories. Because her built-in entertainment wall is a walnut/mahogany finish, I thought all-white accessories would really pop against the stain of the entertainment wall and modernize it a bit.

Kelly, my client, absolutely loved the final design board and I am so thrilled to be sharing this with you. It's one of my favorite design boards, so I had to share it with you all. Thank you Kelly for being such a wonderful client and allowing me to share this with my readers!

Holiday Wish List: For The Gourmet

I don't pretend to be a gourmet (that's my husband's domain), and I wish I could spend more time in the kitchen, but I bet if I had a few of these items I'd sure feel like I was a gourmet. Hey, I need all the help I can get so if it means that I need to acquire some of these goods, then so be it. I'm especially loving #11 (Mark and Graham monogrammed cocktail napkins) and #5 (Apilco Gold Accent Roasting Dish). I saw #5 the other day at Williams Sonoma and instantly fell in love with it. We don't do a lot of roasting in our house, but if I had that, I definitely would roast something every week.
