That's an easy question. Love them, of course! Such a great way to add interest (as bold as you want or as subtle as you want) to a seemingly forgotten space. I tell ya, I always seem to forget about the staircase (tsk tsk). It's just a place to get from Point A to Point B, right? Yeaaa, but then I see these amazing staircases that are outfitted with such fun carpets, and I immediately want to remove the carpets on our staircases and replace them with something bold (leopard print, please) or geometric (David Hicks all the way).
Ahh, the list keeps getting longer with what I want to do to the house. And this idea of stair runners is definitely now on there. Would you try this out? And check out that DIY Ikat stair runner. How amazing is that??

Oookay, maybe more than just a few splurges. But hey, it's Friiiiday and I'm in a shopping mood. Can't blame me, especially with these amazing sales that are going on right now. Anthropologie is having a huge one right now, and Zara just started their sale at midnight. I was able to get some major staples, but I missed out on these little beauties since I wasn't fast enough checking out. But I am SO glad I was able to snag #6, because black pumps (and these ones at that) are such a staple in any lady's wardrobe. And yes, I had to get #2 for Cora. It's totally appropriate for the Fall months, don't you think?
Hurry over to these sales people! The good stuff is getting snatched up left and right, so I really wouldn't delay. You'll thank me for this PSA.

We're headed to the beach next week (eek!), and I've got anything and everything beach related on the brain. This is the second time we're taking Cora to the beach and we're so excited, but we're also nervous. It's her first time on an airplane, and well, let's just say I'm already feeling bad for the people sitting near us because I'm certain she will have a meltdown and it ain't going to be quiet one. But aside from the flight, I am super excited to see my best friends and to spend 5 days with them!
With any beach vacation, I'm always concerned with my wardrobe, but this is especially true when I'm meeting up with my fashionista girlfriends. I gotta keep up with them, ya know! And just because I'm a mom, doesn't mean my wardrobe takes a backseat. If anything, I want to make sure I look good so I don't become one of "those moms" that doesn't take care of their appearance. Can you tell that's one of my big fears? First-world problems I realize, but hey, we all have our weaknesses.
I've been shopping around for a chic and somewhat practical cover-up for this trip and all other pool/beach related trips for the near future. These lovelies are what I came across that I bookmarked. I wish I could have them all because they all appeal to me, but I'm thinking that #1 might be "the one". What are your favs?

Happy Friday! I'm so glad this week is almost over. I say that every Friday, and I really do mean it every week. Lately it's been the case that each week gets filled up with appointments, gym classes (for Cora, not me), and lots of errands and chores in between. If I'm lucky (like I was last week and this week), I get to have lady dates and Happy Hours with friends to add excitement to my somewhat isolating job as a stay-at-home mom. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely looove being at home with my baby girl and cannot believe how blessed I am that I can be at home with her. But, it can get a little isolating in some ways. Talking to a one year old doesn't exactly help with your social skills, ya know? I'm sure you moms out there know what I'm talking about. Thank goodness Steve works from home or else I think I would be completely socially inept. I'm not kidding. There are times when I'll take Cora to Target or the grocery store and someone will start talking to her (and me) and when they ask questions, I swear I become totally awkward and say the most random things! But I'm getting way off track here. Let's get back to these lovely images, shall we?
It's easy for me to check out Pinterest while Cora's playing in her playpen and distracted from me, especially with the iPhone (what would I do without my iPhone??). And these are some of my absolute faves from this week's pinning activities.
#1: Totally is my dream dining room. The pale pink walls and a door leading out to a (most likely) stunning garden/patio of some sort. The lucite table, and those chairs! Yep, I'm in love.
#2: I'm usually not a fan of a simple gown like this one, but the embellishments at the top and the overall look of the model make me dream of wearing such a subtly glam gown, oh you know for the next major awards show I'll attend. Right??
#3: The perfect piece of art. Period.
#4: Such a traditional space with the hottest, most glam chairs you ever did see. And the carpet! The David Hicks Hexagon pattern is one of my fave patterns right now and as a carpet, it's stunning.
#5: I feel that even if you are a mom, you must never stop being chic -- or at least trying to be chic. Because when you stop trying, no one wins. Am I right? This mom right here is exactly what I hope to be. I want Cora to remember me putting lipstick on, taking the time to look polished, and heck, even wear a gown once in awhile.
#6: You had me at 'white peach'. I have yet to attempt making this seemingly perfect drink for Summer, but you can bet I will real soon.

Morning! I've got a slight case of the Monday Blues today. It always seems to happen after a fun wedding weekend. You all know what I'm talking about, right? You have such a great time starting Friday night and all the way to Sunday, but then slowly realize you have to go back to reality on Monday.
The wedding was of our good friends, Jeff and Bonnie, and was held at the Annapolis Yacht Club. The yacht club is right in downtown Annapolis and has almost 360 degree views of water. It was a beautiful venue and the weather could not have been better. Rain and clouds disappeared just hours before the wedding, making way for a beautiful day of celebration on the water. We were even able to hang out on the dock during the reception and get some great views of the amazing yachts docked right there.
With all of the sailing paraphernalia around us, I was inspired to create this board. Ohh ya know, just a few things I'd want to take on/use to outfit my fabulous yacht (if I had one) for a day of sailing. Wouldn't you agree?

Happy Friday everyone! Boy, do we have lots going on this weekend. Our good friend, Jeff, is getting hitched and the festivities start this evening! Yippee! You all know that I'm a stay-at-home mom, which means I don't really have to get properly dressed everyday. I mean, I really try when I have to, but most of the time, I'm in lounge clothes all day long. Not that I don't mind it, but when it comes time to actually look presentable in public, I'm somewhat at a loss. Such 1st world problems, right? Especially for dressier occasions, since I rarely go to any. Don't worry, I've got both of my outfits ready for tonight and tomorrow, but I wish I had some of these amazing nude heels to go with the dresses I have because they would help add the illusion to longer legs. I realize that I'm a few days late with a weekend update, but what I discovered is too good to keep to myself. Over the weekend, I finally got a chance to see all of the goodies (i.e. Jonathan Adler, Conran, & Martha Stewart) at JCPenney. It took our mall awhile to get s*** done. I swear, I kept going in there the entire month of May and part of June disappointed because they hadn't finished up the Home section yet. But fiiinally they got it all done and even though it was a pain to wait (I kept seeing everyone else's Instagrams with photos of all of the amazing pieces from JCP like a month ago!), it was definitely worth it. I won't lie, I've never really shopped at JCP before. Not because I poo-poo their products, it's just that there are others ahead of them in my line-up of shopping go-to's and they just get forgotten. But not anymore! JCP is at the top of my list now. The hubby and I were equally impressed and in awe while we were looking around.
Again, I know that I'm late with this "update" on the new furniture lines at JCP, especially Jonathan Adler's Happy Chic line (it's as good as everyone says it is), since it's been talked about on the blogosphere for some time now. So, I won't bombard you with the same photos already floating around. But what I will share with you is the amazing, and I really mean aaamazing, Martha Stewart Celebration line at JCP. You've all seen some of it at Michael's or even TJMaxx/Marshalls/HomeGoods, but it's like that times a hundred! I mean, if you ever had a party decor need for anything, this is the place to go! I really felt like a kid in a candy store when I was looking through all of the celebration products. I don't have any more parties to plan (yet?), but just walking through the fun & chic party goods made me want to throw one!
Of course, DIY'ing party decor items is fun (and money saving), but sometimes you just don't have the time or energy (right??) and that is why I am so excited to blab about this. Cause really, time is precious and anything saving us time is a-okay with me. Especially, when they look this fabulous. Right?
