Valentine's Day Weekend & Other Things

Happy Belated Valentine's Day and President's Day! I think every Valentine's Day should be on a long weekend, don't you think? We had a wonderful weekend of spending time with each other and just cooking and baking at home. We did get lucky and have my mom babysit Saturday night so we could go watch Deadpool, which btw was really, really funny! Definitely not your typical superhero movie, so don't have your kids watch it. Unless you're okay with them seeing lots of nudity and violence (lots of gory stuff). There was a family that had brought their kid (looked like they were 10yrs. old) and left early on in the movie. Probably because they realized it was waaay too inappropriate for the kid. It's rated R for a reason, so keep that in mind. But for us adults, it was refreshing to see a different kind of superhero movie and Ryan Reynolds is hilarious in it. If anything, just go watch it because he's in it.

Anyways, besides enjoying a movie night, we also did something that we hadn't done in a while. We went to a few open houses just for fun. Well, I say just for fun but we actually go to these things to get a better sense of what's out in the real estate market and to see what we want in our next home. It's hard to tell what you want based on pictures online, it makes such a huge difference going to these homes and seeing it in real life. Buying a home is such a big life event and to know what you want and what you're willing to compromise on is so important. We've lived in our town home for almost 8 years now and we've definitely picked up a few ideas of what the next house must have and what we can forego. And after seeing the two homes we saw, we realize that we need a little more space than what we currently have. Plus, it's so fun to see Cora's reactions to seeing these homes. It's cute to see what she thinks is important in her mind.

As of right now, my "office" is the end of the dining table in our kitchen. I know, I used to have a desk in our bedroom, but since we've reconfigured the layout, I no longer have my desk in there. And there really isn't any other place for me to have an office. For now, the dining table works just fine but one day I'd love to have my own office, hint hint. I only took photos from the first house we saw, because well there really wasn't much of anything good at the second house.

Sunrooms weren't really on my wish list of things to have in our future home, but after seeing this one, I'm thinking it's slowly working it's way up the priority list.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the archways, but I ended up liking them.

Cora really liked this house. I really liked the flooring situation. Not a huge fan of the columns though...

As an early Valentine's Day treat, we took Cora out for dinner at a Japanese restaurant nearby. It was so nice to be able to spend some alone time with just her since we both hadn't gotten to do that in a while.

Movies are such a treat for us, thank you to my mom for staying with both girls!

I love the Pioneer Woman and when I saw her making her Chocolate Pie on t.v. the other day, I knew I had to make it. The recipe made plenty of leftovers, so I put some in pretty, pink bowls to enjoy after I devour the pie!

Total side note with this photo: I snagged this Leaf Print Bodycon Dress (only $13!!) & Carmelita Clutch in Natural (a steal at $34! comes in black too!) for our upcoming Puerto Rico trip! More on this later!
