Transitional Pattern Mixing

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

Hi friends!! What a weekend/week it's been. I don't know if I mentioned this in my previous post (I know I shared it on Instagram), but I got all four of my wisdom teeth taken out this past Friday. It's been a long time coming and every year since 8 years ago I have put it off. But a few weeks ago, the upper ones started bothering me and because the pain was getting to me, I decided to get them all out ASAP. It's been a bit of a rough recovery. Apparently, my lower ones were quite impacted and are now leaving me extremely sore and still in pain. BUT, I am so glad I got them taken care of because now I don't have to worry about them bothering me in the future, knock on wood.

Sorry, I realize I wrote a lot about my wisdom teeth and in an outfit post no less. But this recovery has been somewhat all-consuming and is something that is clearly on my mind like 24/7. Okay, now that I've vented a bit (don't get me started on how hungry I am and how much I want a Big Mac and I never eat Big Macs), let's get to this perfect transitional look for now and into Spring.

A few weeks ago, I popped into H&M to see if they had anything new for Spring. It was kind of that weird in-between time where they really didn't have much and what they had was a whole lot of sale items. Well, lucky for me I happened upon this hounds tooth blazer for $10! It's sold out online (it was from the Fall) but I've linked to similar styles below. Because it's more of a Fall/Winter piece, I thought I'd lighten it up with some white jeans and a fun heel to make a bit more appropriate for now.

I could've easily worn a solid color underneath the hounds tooth blazer but I thought, let's live a little. The striped top somehow works with the hounds tooth pattern, it's not too busy and manages to complement each other. I think the stripes keeps it fresh, especially paired with the white jeans. Something about it all seems light in prep for Spring. You could also switch out the heels for some slip-on loafers or mules which I definitely plan on doing.

Thank you to my friend, Caitlin of The Mama Notes, for taking these pics!
