I came across the above photo while perusing the web and immediately fell in love with the space. First off, I love when window panes and doors are painted black. I just think it feels European and somehow a bit more poetic. Then there's the giant ribbon board which is perfect for displaying holiday cards and photos. It just looks so polished and festive, it honestly makes me want to be organized this holiday season.

It's funny, cause I usually tend to lean towards rooms with lots of color, pattern and texture but for some reason, and maybe it has to do with the fact that the holiday season is really hectic, I've been gravitating towards calmer interiors. Ya know, color schemes are kept to a minimum and the furnishings are simple and the whole feel of the room is about soothing comfort. Well, after seeing the above photo, I had to find out who was responsible for designing this oasis of sorts. And what I found, I really like. The McGill Design Group, founded by Colleen McGill and based in Canada, has some of the most luxuriously simple interiors I've ever seen. I'm sure you'll agree with me too...
