Happy Monday! Does anybody else feel that this weekend went by in a blink of an eye? I probably say that every Monday, but seriously, it really feels that way today. It probably has something to do with the fact that I had my very first girls day date in over 6 months! I was lucky enough to steal away from my babies on Saturday (thank you to the hubby!) to meet up with my bff, Lauren, so that we could just catch up and be together for a little bit. She's 34 weeks pregnant and I hadn't seen her in what felt like forever (I really, really need to be better about making time for friends! Sometimes, mommy guilt plus figuring out child care prevents me from making such plans, anybody else feel that way?) and I just really wanted to see her and that perfect baby bump of hers. We've been friends since we were 5 years old (!!!) and to see her start a family just makes me beyond happy and excited for her and her husband, David.
We had a wonderful lunch of Kiwi meat pies (at Cassatt's in Arlington, so good!) and lots of talking (thank you to Lauren for giving me a tutorial on how to use Snapchat!), then a little window shopping at Random Harvest, and then topping off our girls date with lots of sweet treats from Pastries by Randolph. I bought a few pastries to take home to share with Steve, but they were SO good that I ate them all by myself! So much for showing restraint at the start of the new year.
And that evening, we had a wonderful dinner at our neighbors' house to celebrate the husband of that duo becoming a U.S. citizen. They're from Ireland and have a son who is in the same class as Cora (they're bffs and it's ridiculously cute to see them play and talk. Toddler conversations are the best, right?), and have become one of our closest friends. Then yesterday was all about making some yummy food (Steve's grandmother's family recipe for Sloppy Joes) and relaxing a bit before watching the Redskins playoff game and the red carpet show for the Golden Globes (my faves were Alicia Vikander, J.Lo, Kate Bosworth, & Kirsten Dunst). So you see, it was full of fun and now I'm stunned at how it's Monday already.
The only way to cheer me up is either through good food (already ate plenty of that this weekend) or a really good sale. And we're all in luck because today you can get this Audrey coat for 50% off during Ellie Kai's sample sale! Use code SamplesAW15-50 until January 12th. Not much time left so hurry to snag this coat (comes in 2 other colors!) along with a bunch of other fabulous pieces. This coat easily dresses up a simple outfit (white tank and jeans) which makes it a no-brainer to have in my wardrobe. You could also wear this with flats and you'd still look polished and put together. They've also got clothes for little girls (Cora's got this ruffle zip-up and absolutely loves it!) which I am obsessed with. The quality is amazing and the style's are so classic, you really can't go wrong with any of their pieces.
